EQUUS ALIVE CERTIFICATION COURSE

EQUINE SPECIALIST- FACILITATOR

 

The Equus Alive Certification Course for Equine Specialist - Facilitator will consist of three modules.

Participants will be required to complete all three modules to receive certification.

 

THE NEXT COURSES WILL BE HELD

 

 

Thursday to Sunday, April 23-26, 2020

 

 Registration is $1500 CDN plus GST

 

 

Location

 Millar Venture Arabians Farm, 54229 Range Road 210, Ft Saskatchewan T8L 3Z1

 

TIME

 9:30am to 4:00pm each day (lunch is included)

 

This Equus Alive certification course will consist of over 20 hours of practical, on the ground work with the horses and a blend of classroom and discussion. Handout materials are included and will provide participants with detailed course information that will make ideal reference material going forward.

MODULE ONE

 

Module one will cover

 • the role of the faciltator, in detail • a code of ethics • safety

• basic horse psychology • basic human psychology, including behaviours around horses

• basic horsemanship • selecting the right horse(s) • preparing to do a program (checklist of things you need)

 

Practical activities (in the arena)

• basic horse handling techniques

• activities to introduce people to the horses and useful basic activities to begin a program

MODULE TWO

 

Module two will cover

• more advanced human psychology and the role of the horse as it applies to the “mirror” effect

• the value of the “DeBreef” and practical question techniques

• dealing with the experienced horse participant

• advanced horse handling

 

Practical activities (in the arena)

• more advanced horse handling techniques

• more advanced activities suitable for different types of programs

MODULE THREE

 

Module three will cover

• ideas for setting up a business • charging a fee for your service

• practical realities of this type of business

• different opportunities to do EAL/EFL programs • marketing ideas

 

Practical activities (in the arena)

• facilitate and program with live people participating

• presenting unique activities

• group evaluation

The modules may be modified, depending on the horsemanship levels and the specific needs of the group

 

At the conclusion of the course, the certified Equine Specialist - Facilitator...

• should be comfortable to safely prepare and facilitate a small group or an individual, providing an exhilarating and

positive outcome using EAL / EFL activities and ideas.
